Okay, I’ll be the first to admit it; I spend too much money on comics. It’s not my fault, really. They are just so fun to read and those price tags only say 2.99. With my iPad, I’ve gotten even worse. Instead of facing the register $25 total, I just buy them all via Comixology and only see a $6 receipt from iTunes every few days. My girlfriend saw my reading list last night and asked just how many series I am reading. It was hard to come up with a total; there are just so many each week. Well it’s time to come out of the shadows. I shall proudly stand up for the comics I love, and, who knows, maybe you can give them a try too, but watch that iTunes bill.
Those who’ve listened to the podcasts know that I am no stranger to theatre (<—the right way to spell it). So naturally, when I took my trip to New York last month, it would have been a crime against the humanities to not see a Broadway show. Of course, those who also know me personally know that next to film and theatre, I’m heavily influenced by comic books. And against the better judgement of my theatre friends, and anyone who saw the show, I decided that the first ever broadway show I would see would be none other than Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark. And what did I think of this much talked-about (read: disparaged) musical?
Movies and beer go amazingly well together. In some cases, drinking enough beer can make a movie which would otherwise be a steaming pile of cow dung, absolute poetry. In other cases, though, finding the perfect beer that compliments a film can help shed new light on it by allowing not only your senses of sight and sound to experience it, but your sense of taste as well. Having had this epiphany, I thought it only prudent to share my vast knowledge of brews and movies through a beer and movie pairing.
