This week, Dave McGuire guest hosts as the Nerds dedicate an entire episode to the worst sequels of all time.
Everyone and their mother has been eagerly anticipating this summer’s “Opening Day” for movies which Marvel has had on lockdown for the last few years. This year’s starting feature: Iron Man 3. Some people loved it, some people hated it and since its a piece of art, both are correct. I have now seen it thrice and have had ample time to break it down for you from the perspective of a truly dedicated comic book movie nerd.
The Iron Man trilogy is one of the best sagas around, almost all due to Robert Downey Jr.’s performance. On the surface, the movies are connected, but I wanted to dig deeper to see if, as Tony puts it, he really IS Iron Man. In this discussion, I am going to breakdown the Iron Man trilogy movie-by-movie with the evolution of character Tony Stark. For the sake of argument, I will include the movie The Avengers, as the events in that movie are pivotal in the plot/story arc of Tony for Iron Man 3.

#5 – Star Trek: Into Darkness
“Only number 5!?” cries every nerd worldwide. Yes, just number 5 but it’s a short list. Abrams’ Star Trek reboot in 2009 was, to be cliched as hell, A REVELATION! It was so good, I saw it five times in the theaters, then bought the Blu-Ray on release day. I can never get enough of it. It is truly a sci-fi masterpiece.
