About a month ago, a friend of mine sent me a curious text message out of the blue. It said:
“Watch The Fifth Element in black and white. It changes everything.”
My mind was subsequently blown. I asked him what the big difference was and he told me that it made was more like a classic B movie, and it changed the whole approach of the movie.
This week, the Nerds pit two of Hollywood’s best composers against each other: John Williams and Hans Zimmer.

With the recent announcement of the fourth upcoming entry, Jurassic World which comes out in 2015, it seems to be most timely to cover this excellent trilogy’s box set.This set came out in 2011 in two editions: a blu ray box set and a limited edition with a T-Rex mini statue. I had to settle for the first. Like most movie nerds my age, I feel that Jurassic Park is a staple of american cinema and one of my favorites growing up and still is to this day. When this trilogy was released, I got so excited that I made sure to get the day off from work and I spent the day watching all three back to back to back. So now we ask, does the blu ray remastering make that much of a difference compared to with its DVD counterpart?
