**SPOILER ALERT! READ WITH CAUTION, TRUE BELIEVERS!!**
Everyone and their mother has been eagerly anticipating this summer’s “Opening Day” for movies which Marvel has had on lockdown for the last few years. This year’s starting feature: Iron Man 3. Some people loved it, some people hated it and since its a piece of art, both are correct. I have now seen it thrice and have had ample time to break it down for you from the perspective of a truly dedicated comic book movie nerd.
I know what you’re thinking and I agree. Batman & Robin is one of the most terrible films to ever disgrace the silver screen, or any screen for that matter. The script is garbage, the acting is awful, and the production design was way over the top. However, a true Batman fan, comic book fan, or comic book movie fan can actually enjoy it and I will tell you how.
When we were all children, we had dreams. Some kids promise that when they grow up, they will become astronauts. Some kids even innocently swear they will become dinosaurs upon adulthood. Me? I wanted to be Batman. Even other 4 to 5-year-olds laughed at this concept. And yet, I was not deterred. Of course, even at 4 years old, I was a rational individual who understood it would take millions of dollars, and virtually limitless resources, but even more importantly, the right amount of know-how.
